PM Kisan Day 2025: Big Record with 20th Installment, Chhattisgarh’s Major Role
On PM Kisan Day (2 August 2025), ₹553.34 crore was sent directly to the bank accounts of 25,47,538 farmers under the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhischeme. Since the scheme began in February 2019, a total of ₹9,765.26 crore has been given to farmers. With special efforts by the Chhattisgarh government, 2.75 lakh more farmers got the benefit in 2024–25. The registration and payment system was made faster and more transparent. Because of this, forest dwellers, PVTG tribes, and landless farmers also received help from the scheme.
International Cricket Academy to Open in Nava Raipur
A new international-level cricket academy will be built in Nava Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) has been given 7.96 acres of land for this project. The academy will give world-class training to young players, helping them grow at national and international levels. This is an important step for improving sports in the state.
2,100-Year-Old Remains May Be Found at Mahadev Ghat
Archaeologists believe that 2,100-year-old historical remains may be buried behind Sundar Nagar School in the Mahadev Ghat area of Raipur. A team formed by the Archaeology Department has given its report, which says that there might be a fort, palace, circular buildings, water tanks, and clay pots underground. The government has been asked for permission to transfer Plot No. 346 so that excavation can begin. This place could help reveal a big part of Chhattisgarh’s ancient history.
Mohalla Committees Started in All Urban Bodies of Chhattisgarh
To increase public participation in city development, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to form Mohalla Committees in all 192 urban bodies (Municipal Corporations, Councils, and Nagar Panchayats). These committees will:
• Find problems in each ward,
• Give suggestions for development,
• Check whether the work is being done properly.
Each committee will have at least 50% women, which will help promote women empowerment and inclusive development.
Launch of Habib Tanvir Award
The Chhattisgarh government has started the ‘Habib Tanvir Award’ to honor contributions in the field of theatre. This award will recognize the international work of Habib Tanvir. The Department of Culture has invited applications for 14 award categories under Rajyotsav, and the last date to apply is 15 September 2025. Even though the award was announced in 2022, it had not started till now. From now on, this lifetime achievement award will be given to theatre artists for their excellent work in the name of Habib Tanvir.
